Homeroom Teacher — Middle School (Grades 7–8)
This is not just a teaching role. It is a mentorship role. Grade 7 and 8 students are navigating puberty, peer pressure, and real questions about who they are as Muslims. The right candidate brings academic rigour and genuine relationship, because at this stage, students learn from teachers they respect and trust.
About the role
- Deliver rigorous, Ontario Curriculum-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science & Technology, and History & Geography for Grades 7–8.
- Prepare students for the transition to high school, including building strong academic habits and independent thinking skills.
- Use discussion-based, inquiry-driven, and project-based strategies that challenge students to think critically and engage deeply.
- Maintain a fair and respectful classroom culture, understanding that adolescent behaviour requires consistency, boundaries, and genuine relationships.
- Conduct varied assessments, provide constructive feedback, and prepare Ontario-aligned report cards and progress reports.
- Engage students in real conversations about Islamic identity, values, and what it means to live as a Muslim, going beyond curriculum to support tarbiyah at a deeper level.
- Communicate professionally with parents, attend school events, and collaborate actively with the TES team.

- Someone who understands the specific challenges Muslim youth face today and helps students build a confident, grounded Islamic identity.
- Academically strong, organised, and accountable, with the maturity to handle a demanding intermediate classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree; OCT certification (Intermediate/Senior) is a strong asset
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably at the intermediate level
- Solid subject-area knowledge across core Grade 7–8 disciplines
- Proven classroom management skills with adolescent learners
- Deeply committed to Islamic education, identity formation, and tarbiyah
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
