Kindergarten Teacher - JK and SK

Kindergarten at TES is where a child's relationship with learning and with their Islamic identity begins. This is the most formative stage in a child's educational journey, and the right candidate approaches it with that understanding. You are not just teaching letters and numbers. You are shaping how a child feels about school, about themselves, and about Allah.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Plan and deliver a play-based, inquiry-driven Kindergarten program aligned with the Ontario Kindergarten curriculum framework, covering foundational literacy, numeracy, self-regulation, and social development.
  • Create a warm, print-rich, and beautifully organised classroom environment that sparks curiosity, supports independence, and reflects the school's Islamic identity.
  • Observe, document, and respond to each child's developmental stage through ongoing pedagogical documentation and assessment, in keeping with the Ontario Kindergarten program's assessment approach.
  • Teach foundational pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills through hands-on, multi-sensory, and play-based experiences.
  • Weave Islamic values, du'a, adab, and character development naturally into the rhythms of the school day, morning routines, transitions, stories, and circle time.
  • Build warm, trusting relationships with every child in the class, understanding that young children learn best when they feel safe and seen.
  • Communicate consistently and warmly with parents, providing regular updates on developmental progress and offering practical ways to extend learning at home.
  • Collaborate with the Kindergarten team, support staff, and ECE partner (where applicable) to plan and deliver a cohesive program.
  • Supervise students during all parts of the school day, including transitions, outdoor play, and lunch.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute actively to the broader TES school community.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Someone who genuinely loves young children and understands the unique developmental needs of 4 and 5 year olds, including the wide range of readiness within a single class.
  • Warm, calm, and endlessly patient, with the energy and creativity to sustain an engaging Kindergarten environment every single day.
  • Attentive to the whole child: their academic readiness, emotional wellbeing, social development, and spiritual formation.
  • Someone who sees the Kindergarten classroom as a place of wonder and takes seriously the trust families place in TES when they send their youngest children through our doors.
