Computer & IT Teacher
Technology is already shaping the world our students will inherit, and how they engage with it matters. This role equips students with the computational thinking, digital literacy, and problem-solving skills to navigate that world with competence and ethical grounding. The right candidate brings both technical expertise and the ability to connect coding and technology to meaningful, real-world purpose.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Computer Science, IT, and digital literacy instruction for Grades 1–8, aligned with the Ontario curriculum.
- Teach computing, programming, computational thinking, and problem-solving using age-appropriate tools such as Scratch, Code.org, Python, and other educational platforms.
- Introduce STEM and robotics through hands-on learning using platforms such as LEGO Mindstorms, Bee-Bot, or equivalent tools.
- Integrate digital citizenship, internet safety, responsible technology use, and ethical decision-making throughout instruction.
- Develop project-based learning experiences that connect technology and STEM to real-world and cross-curricular learning.
- Differentiate instruction and build a structured, progressive technology curriculum across Grades 1–8.
- Maintain a safe, organised, and welcoming computer lab with clear expectations for responsible technology use.
- Assess student learning, maintain accurate records, and communicate progress with students and families.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology across subjects and support STEM events, showcases, competitions, and extracurricular activities.
- Stay current with developments in technology and Computer Science education and bring relevant opportunities into the classroom.
- Support the school's Islamic mission by helping students develop a purposeful, ethical, and responsible relationship with technology.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, IT, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- B.Ed. or equivalent Ontario-recognized teaching qualification preferred; strong technical candidates with relevant teaching or classroom experience will also be considered.
- OCT certification is an asset.
- Experience working with elementary or intermediate-aged students.
- Experience with Scratch, Code.org, Python, or similar programming platforms; robotics experience is an asset.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and educational technology platforms.
- Knowledge of digital citizenship, internet safety, and responsible technology use.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues and support computer lab operations.
- LMS or student information system experience is an asset.
- Strong lesson planning, differentiation, assessment, classroom management, and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Genuine commitment to Islamic values, tarbiyah, character development, and the mission of Tarbiyah Elementary School.
